Over the years, my taste in food has changed, as have my recipes. This blog will chronicle the changes I continue to make, as I face challenges in healthier eating and in new methods of cooking.

Shepherd's Pie - Wednesdays with Donna Hay
I am slowly getting back to normal with my online activity. Actually, I couldn't wait to return to cooking with four fabulous ladies who make up our Donna Hay group. I had never heard of Donna Hay before the group. It was the participants that was the draw to this group and it was an excellent decision.
This week , Gaye chose Shepherd's Pie (page 158 in Modern Classics I). I have made variations of Shepherd's Pie over the year and this was not that different. It did have peas and carrots who I didn't include before this. Having the veggies added nutrition, color and taste.
I subbed chopped turkey for beef. I stuck with the vegetables and spices and ended up with a filling dish which was completely satisfying and got a thumbs up from Hubby.
Check the other ladies, Kayte, Margaret and Gaye, three good cooks who know how to present their dishes.

ReplyDeleteI love Donna Hay recipes, no nonsense, no extras that add a lot of fat and calories, just nice fresh food...no fake ingredients...prepared simply. What's not to love, right? Your pie looks wonderful and I like the idea of ground turkey also so it is nice to know that it worked well in this recipe.
ReplyDeleteI just discovered Shepherd's pie last year and have become a huge fan! I love your version of it!
