Shepherd's Pie - Wednesdays with Donna Hay

I am slowly getting back to normal with my online activity.  Actually, I couldn't wait to return to cooking with four fabulous ladies who make up our Donna Hay group.  I had never heard of Donna Hay before the group.  It was the participants that was the draw to this group and it was an excellent decision.

This week , Gaye chose Shepherd's Pie (page 158 in Modern Classics I).  I have made variations of Shepherd's Pie over the year and this was not that different.  It did have peas and carrots who I didn't include before this.  Having the veggies added nutrition, color and taste.

I subbed chopped turkey for beef.   I stuck with the vegetables and spices and ended up with a filling dish which was completely satisfying and got a thumbs up from Hubby.

Check the other ladies, Kayte, Margaret and Gaye, three good cooks who know how to present their dishes.

  2. I love Donna Hay recipes, no nonsense, no extras that add a lot of fat and calories, just nice fresh food...no fake ingredients...prepared simply. What's not to love, right? Your pie looks wonderful and I like the idea of ground turkey also so it is nice to know that it worked well in this recipe.
